What does your job involve?
I started with Whittan as a temp, working as a forklift coordinator within the factory. This involved working with the guys, building beams. When part of the factory was relocated to Milton Keynes, I was offered a permanent position within the new installation team as a team leader. This was in January 2017. I was then promoted to supervisor in February.
My current role as a working supervisor, involves lots of paperwork. The work has me traveling to sites across the country where I work with my team to build racking, shelving and lockers on client’s premises. We have just completed our first mobile tracks at the archives in Cornwall. There is a lot involved as a supervisor, such as dealing directly with the clients, ensuring the teams H&S and carrying out regular audits.
Have you progressed since starting with Whittan. What has been your career path?
Yes, I started as temp, then team leader and then finally promoted to supervisor.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy the challenge. It’s exciting, as I get to meet different clients. It is really satisfying completing jobs, seeing it through from start to finish and having happy customers. It’s a real achievement.
What do you like about the company?
I think it’s a good company to work for and there are opportunities for me to grow within the company.
Future career goals within Whittan
I would like to work my way up towards becoming a racking Inspector or similar. I’ve got some courses coming up which should help towards my goals.
